What you should know

Extra fees mentioned. Charging a tenant mediation, contract or administration fees is illegal in the Netherlands when the agent also works for the landlord (art. 7:417 BW). You can reclaim these. A small, real cost like a credit check can be OK. If it's hundreds of euros, push back.
Deposit mentioned. A deposit of one to two months' rent is normal in NL. More than two months is not, and you're entitled to get it back within 14 days of moving out if the room is left in good condition.

This description can be auto-translated from Dutch, so read it carefully before you apply. The details (deposit, bills, the exact rules) sometimes get lost in translation.
