Last updated 12 September 2026. Short version: we keep what your search needs, we never sell anything, and one email gets it all deleted.

Who we are

What we store

• Your account. Email, first name, phone number, and a password only if you set one.
• Your search. City, budget, move-in date, the type of place, and the answers you gave when setting up: whether you are a student, an international, whether you need registration, your university and programme, nationality, age, and the two lines you wrote about yourself. All of it goes into the message we write for you, which is why we ask.
• What you do with listings. Which ones you saved, skipped or applied to.
• Applications. The messages sent in your name, who they went to, and when.
• Chats. What you ask Casa the assistant, and our answer.
• Payments. That you paid, for what, and when. Card and bank details never reach us, Mollie handles those.
• Basic usage. Which pages get opened, on what kind of device, and roughly which country. We do not store IP addresses. Visits are counted under a hash that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you.

Why

To run the account you asked for, to write a first message you send yourself, to send the daily email you turned on, and to keep the service working and free of scams. Payment records are kept because Dutch tax law says so. Where the law calls it a legitimate interest rather than a contract, it is only ever the boring kind: counting page views, blocking abuse.

Who else sees it

Only the companies that make the thing work, and only the part they need:

• Our email provider for login links and alerts.
• Anthropic when you talk to Casa the assistant, or when we ask it to double-check a listing for scam patterns. Your question goes to them, your account details do not.
• Our host, OVH, where the server lives.
• Off-market opt-in. If you tick the box, we keep your contact details and search so we can message you about places that never go online. Untick it in your settings any time and we stop.

Opening a page also loads fonts from Google, map tiles from OpenStreetMap and listing photos from the sites we found them on, so those companies see your IP address the way they would on any website. We never sell your data, and we never pass it to advertisers.

How long

Your account and everything in it stays until you delete it. Alerts and notifications are cleared after 60 days. Payment records are kept for seven years because we have to. Usage counts are kept in a form that is not linked to you.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of everything we hold, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Email hello@findyourcasa.nl from the address on your account and we will do it within a month, usually the same week. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Agencies and landlords

To connect students with places, we keep business contact details that agencies and landlords have published themselves on their own ads — a company name, a work phone or email, a website. We use them only to offer them student tenants, never to advertise anything else, and we never sell or share this list. If you are an agency or landlord and would rather not hear from us, reply “stop” to any message or email hello@findyourcasa.nl and we remove you from our outreach for good.

Under 16

Casa is for students renting their own place, so we assume you are 16 or older. If you are not, ask a parent to email us and we will remove the account.
